Subsequent to the elections at the annual meeting, the board unanimously agreed to the following officers for the coming year:

Congrats to the new board members!
And I have a question for the new board: is FSH a smoke-free building? If so, does that include not smoking on the balconies? I’m hoping it does because I’m having a problem with smoke coming in to my condo from another balcony. Can anything be done about this?

Regarding your question, Fort Sumter House is not a smoke-free building. I think we all discourage smoking for health reasons, but there is no regulation regarding this here at FSH. If you know which resident is smoking and causing you an issue, perhaps you can speak with that person as a neighbor and come to some agreement between the two of you. If, after that, it continues to be a problem, you can mention it to our building manager and see if he can help. –Beth
Thanks for the clarification. Is there a process to propose a change in policy?
Sue – I don’t know how we could enforce a ‘no smoking’ policy in the apartments. I will ask the other board members about this at our next meeting. –Beth
