The pool is now open for the 2013 summer season. Please review the pool rules here: https://fortsumterhouse.org/?page_id=312. Additional signage has been added to remind everyone that NO GLASS ITEMS of any sort are allowed anywhere inside the fence that surrounds the pool area. This is a regulation of the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). Any non-compliance will risk closure of the pool.
The plaster surface in the pool had become very discolored during the 2012 swimming season. We drained the pool and applied an acid wash that has resolved the issue. See the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures below. We are very pleased with the result – the pool looks clean and very inviting! When the pool was refilled, we noticed that a couple of ducks flew in to enjoy it first! As cute as they are, we are making every effort to discourage their return!
