Christmas Party: Sunday, December 11, 2016

Our Christmas party will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 in the FSH Lobby at 6:00. Guests are asked to bring an Hors d’oeuvre or sweets. Sign-up sheet will be placed on  Lobby desk to specify what you will bring. Wine, soft drinks, and ice will be provided. Casual holiday attire.

Insurance Workshop on 10/31/16 at 5:00 PM (before Annual Meeting)

All FSH owners are invited to attend a workshop on insurance issues immediately preceding the Annual Meeting.

Monday, October 31, 2016 — at 5pm in the Lobby

We survived a potentially devastating event with the passing of Hurricane Matthew.  Some unit owners called our insurance agent directly to report minor damages and ask how it will be taken care of.   We’d like to take this opportunity to explain how claims are resolved based on the Verbiage of our Master Deed and its latest amendment which helps to define everyone’s responsibilities.   We have asked our insurance agent (Guy Riska) to help us interpret our Master Deed so we all know what to do and what to expect when Hurricanes hit.

Letter Sept. 28, 2016: Pet Policy

Recently, your Board sent an opinion survey to all Owners asking whether you would approve having pets in our building. The intent of the survey was to inform the Board as to whether the current rule banning pets in the Fort Sumter House residences should remain. The results of the survey indicate that 34% of Owners approve having pets in the building, while 52% disapprove (14% did not respond).

Letter Sept. 22, 2016: Three (3) Open Board Positions

In a recent email, we notified you of open Board positions and strongly encouraged owners to apply. We need to periodically change the Board composition so no one position dominates. This also gives more owners awareness of how the building operates. Since the decision is made by a vote of the owners, it would be helpful if the voters understood more about candidate’s views on important topics such as these below. You may not have enough information to have specific opinions but you do have values that guide you in one general direction or another. Your vision for the building is important. What would you like to accomplish if elected to the Board? These topics are only examples.

Preparing for the 2016 Hurricane Season

Hurricane season began June 1 and extends through November 30, 2016.
With the 2016 terrace resurfacing project, all the 2nd and 3rd floor terraces will be cleared of owner’s personal property (furniture & plants) by August 1.  For those owners who have patios and small balconies, we would like to remind you that, in the event of a hurricane or stormy weather,  you are responsible for clearing your personal effects from these areas.
