FSH Resident Shares 2 Poems!

David Sheffler in unit #503 shares some of his “FSH-inspired” poetry below! He is also an excellent photographer and I will be posting his photos in the Gallery shortly. If you have something to share with our FSH neighbors, please use Contact Us to send for posting on the FSH blog.

Thank you, David, for sharing these lovely poems!

Pelican Patrol

From balcony’s high perch we sight,
Eve’s pelican patrols in flight.
Down Ashley’s concrete shore they glide,
In search of prey on ebbing tide
In tight formation, one by one,
Skirting rooftop, oak and palm.
No flapping wings to keep the pace,
No effort spent, to yield such grace.
Their flight to ponder while I sup,
The question being what holds them up?

The Battery

The Battery’s a lively place,
Til setting sun slows down the pace.
Walkers, joggers everywhere
Some stop and linger with no care.
Tour guides pointing, cameras snapping,
King Street, Murray? …routes need mapping.
White Point oak trees graceful, shading
Babies napping, beaus parading.
Stone-cold soldiers stand guard duty;
Bandstand hosting bridal beauty.
Fort Sumter House, white majesty,
Haunts Ashley’s journey to the sea.
But all quiets down when night does creep,
As gulls and squirrels and inn guests sleep.
