Councilman Michael S. Seekings has forwarded the latest information on the Seawall Repair Project. The information below is provided by the Project Manager, Frank Newham:
The first phase of the Seawall Repair Project includes the reconstruction of the “Turn” of the High Battery. The “Turn” is the portion of the seawall that connects the stone High Battery to the Low Battery (at the intersection of East Battery and Murray Boulevard). In order to provide a safe work zone, we will need to close East Battery from South Battery to Murray Boulevard. We will begin some of the parking changes and roadwork this Thursday 10/31/13, prior to the actual contractor mobilization on 11/4/13. Before we can begin construction, the bus parking will need to be temporarily moved out of the work zone. This work has been coordinated with (and will be performed by) our Traffic & Transportation Department.
Attached is a map showing the general location of the temporary parking. We also will install a temporary turnaround at the end of Murray Boulevard. This has to be accomplished before the street can be blocked. We intend to perform the work at Murray Blvd. early Thursday morning to reduce the need to detour tour buses and cars as much as possible.
On Monday, 11/4/13, the contractor will begin establishing the work zone by installing signage, barricades and fences. Starting next week, we will be providing a schedule of anticipated contractor activities for the following two weeks. This two-week “look ahead” schedule and other pertinent information will be placed on our website:

Control plan can also be found on the website.
